Christian Counseling

Please read the following if you are interested in Christian or Biblical counseling.

Michael Beavers, MS LMFT is a counselor who has graduate training (from California Baptist University as well as Fuller Theological Seminary) in the integration of Psychology and Christianity. He believes that all healing comes from God and that, in the case of followers of Christ, that significant resources for healing can be found in their faith as well as in psychological principles.

He has also taught graduate-level courses in integration and counseling at the International School of Theology (Campus Crusade for Christ) as well as having served on the board of a local church for several years.

What about Christian Marital Counseling?

Michael works with a variety of strategies in marital counseling but he especially relies on work done by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs in Love and Respect and Cracking the Communication Code. He believes the core principles taught in this material are vitally important for success in understanding and benefitting from Christian marriage. He is currently working with Dr. Eggerichs and his staff to bring an intensive version of the Love and Respect conference (in video form with small group participation) to the mountain area communities. Check out a great video summarizing the approach. Find out more by going to www.LoveandRespect.com.

How is Biblical Counseling Different from Christian Counseling?
Christian counseling generally refers to using psychological techniques and theories in a manner friendly to the Christian faith. Biblical Counseling, on the other hand, is the explicit use of scripture passages to find insight and help for one's problems or issues. Michael is trained and experienced in both of these approaches.
